Your child's room, in order to give him a positive disposition and a healthy attitude toward life, should be filled with warm colors and cozy furniture. It should have enough space to run around in and enough storage areas to keep toys and clothes off the ground and put away, it is important to try and make the kid's room a fun and exciting place that is easy to maintain and keep clean. If you haven't thought of it already a corner bookcase is a great piece of furniture for a child's bedroom.
My child has a white corner bookcase in her room. She has a white themed room for the most part. Her bed frame is white and her small corner bookcase is white. She's got a snow white bedspread that happens to be kind of white. You might think, well that must look like a hospital room, but it doesn't. It is homely and she loves it and that's all that matters. We got her that small corner bookcase to put in her room because she loves to read and she was slowly developing a nice little book collection. She collects fairy tale stories and young adult detective novels like Harriett the Spy and we didn't have enough room for them in the main living room bookcase.

You can make it a fun bonding experience with your child when you pick out the furniture for their room. I took my daughter to the store with me and had her choose which piece she liked best. We went through row after row some were mahogany and others were oak but in the end she picked the cute little white corner bookcase. She's put stickers on the sides of it and she's even done some of her own little art drawings on one of the shelves to personalize it just the way she wants.
It might be fun, rather than shopping with your child, to build a corner bookcase with them. Bookcases are pretty easy to hand craft and they usually come out looking pretty nice if you put enough effort into the project. I brought my daughter shopping but I'm sure my son would love to get into Dad's work area in the garage and help me put something together for his room. I have a feeling that he'd want to paint the bookcase black though.
